Sor Maria Dolores and the other Nuns in the Order Las Hermanas Misoneras del Corazón de Jeśus in Tireo live simply, humbly, joyfully helping those most in need in the 19 communities they serve. Our dollars and help are critical. They visit people in their homes and discover what difficulties there are and identify problems requiring financial, moral, or educative support. They give courses on hygiene and nutrition, they visit and support mothers, they have groups with youth who need orientation and moral focus, and through their visits and consultations, they are helping people avoid illnesses. Since 2005 Sor Rosario, then Sor Juana and now Sor Maria Dolores (pictured above with volunteer Judy Keith) have been our eyes-and-ears in Constanza.
Second is medical care through the semi-annual medical missions and more importantly, the funding and equipment of a Clinic in Tireo staff, supplies and equipment to provide daily preventive and urgent care to the people of Constanza. The late Dr. Saif Haider was committed to caring for the people of Constanza for over 15 years. We continue to work with the Ministry of Health and local Dr. Cairo and Nurse Cecelia (pictured above).
The third area we target is providing the people with clean water by distributing ceramic pot water filters through an initiative with Wine To Water and Puente Internacional. Polo Collado (pictured above center with Sor Juana (left) and the late Dr. Saif, (right)) is a lifelong resident and community leader in Tireo. He is a kind and caring individual and is well known and respected in Constanza. He is a point person on many programs and a significant resource for the Mission.
